So, earlier, I posted a poem from third grade titled "Blue".To test how far I've come, I decided to rewrite it and change it a little (or a lot). Here it is along with the original:
Blue
Blue is the ocean, the sky, and the ice
Blue is waves whipping and the cloud’s cries
Blue is the salty sea
Blue is a bird that's free
Blue is dark and bright
Blue is fish and light
Blue is a coat on a cold winter night
In a large storm, blue is afloat
An ocean with a small boat.
Rewrite:
Turquoise reflections etched on my gaze,
As my eyes follow the cerulean moon rising above the sea,
I sit on the sand and watch the world turn into the blue heart of a flame,
Dark, yet bright and ablaze
Once the world on land slips away,
In the Aegean expanse,
A blue whale and the wind sing in harmony,
The steady beat of the waves pushes me deeper into the ocean’s song
Blue is calm but never silent
Blue as the tears that threaten to spill,
Blue as the sea underneath my fingertips,
Blue as the moon hanging like a painting,
All under the sapphire sky.
